green insulation is usually made from recycled newspaper

We want to help you go green! We offer many insulation options, but one of our favorites is green insulation. Green insulation is not only good for the environment, but also a superior insulation product that will help your home stay warm in the winter months and cool in the summer months. There are four main types of green insulation:

  1. Icynene – Icynene is able to expand to 10 times its size when applied. It is very good at keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This product can trap some moisture, so it is also recommended to install a ventilation or air exchange system.
  2. Cellulose – This green insulation is usually made from recycled newspaper. It fights against air leaks and is one of the less expensive green insulation options. It is similar to fiberglass insulation, but without the harmful effects of formaldehyde and fire-retardant chemicals.
  3. Sheep’s Wool – This insulation product is renewable and sustainable. It is great at trapping air and damaging chemicals that may attempt to leak into your home. It also helps to reduce condensation.
  4. Polyurethane Foam – This insulation has a high R-value, which makes it ideal for insulating basements and attics. You can get polyurethane insulation made from vegetable oil or soil to make it extra green. This insulation type is very rigid and will help to contribute to the structural integrity of your home.
